REAL DEL MAR and SAN ANTONIO DEL MAR combine to make up the largest residential development in Baja. While the ocean front homes of San Antonio Del Mar have been around for a few years, the new development of Real Del Mar is just getting started. And while San Antonio Del Mar focuses on the blue Pacific Ocean, Real Del Mar centers on the fabulous greens of Baja's newest 18 hole golf course!
Real Del Mar is a golfer's paradise. From the moment one exits the coastal road at the Real Del Mar offramp (just a few miles south of the U.S. border), it becomes obvious that this place is somewhere very special. Lush landscaping, waterfalls, beautiful greens, and views of the ocean can be enjoyed at every turn. At the top of the hill, a Residence Inn by Marriott, makes two and three day golf packages very convenient!
The clubhouse features a restaurant, a bar, a well stocked pro shop, and an outdoor eating area overlooking the greens.
Homes and condos are currently being built on the hills surrounding the golf course. With the beautiful greens in the foreground and the blue Pacific as a backdrop, the stunning views from these new homes should make it easy to forget that golf score on the back nine!
West and south of Real Del Mar on the ocean side of the coastal road, San Antonio Del Mar offers ocean view and ocean front homes in a nicely established neighborhood. This area also offers good food and drink at the La Costa Restaurant and Bar, a small market, a fish taco stand, and a real estate office. If the newer homes at Real Del Mar seem a bit pricey, the red tile roofed homes in San Antonio Del Mar have a lot to offer Baja fans looking for an affordable piece of ocean front paradise!

THE GRINGO FACTOR
While ocean view Real del Mar is gringo golf heaven, seaside San Antonio del Mar is one of the largest gringo neighborhoods in all of Mexico. Several thousand Americans own homes in these two areas, most of which are in the older San Antonio del Mar section. Many of the new homes being built around the newer Real del Mar golf course are owned by gringos looking to own a peice of golf paradise!
YOUR FIRST STOP IN TOWN
Coming off the beautiful offramp at Real Del Mar and heading up the hill leads many visitors to the question "Where do I go now?". A good place to get a lay of the land at Real Del Mar is the outdoor patio off of the Pro Shop. After street parking or taking advantage of the friendly valet service, head through the entrance of the clubhouse and stay left. This area outdoor area offers a great view of the greens, offers a relaxing place to grab a bite to eat, and a leisure cruise through the pro shop is always fun and tempting!
CARLOS FIESTA'S HOT TIP: Let's face it...golf is a tough game. If you work up an exhausting appetite during your golf game, stop on by the clubhouse restaurant Pedrin's for a well deserved meal. The service is good, and the food is excellent. The restaurant staff will go out of their way to make your dining experience a memorable one!
Real Del Mar is just a hop, skip, and a jump to the wide beaches of Rosarito Beach, so most visitors interested in the beach scene head 10 minutes south. Still, there are some water sports possibilities here, including snorkeling, kayaking, and beachcombing.
Another good beach south of Real del Mar is LA SALINA, also known as Puerto Salina. Aside from a small group of houses and a first class RV Park, these beaches are wide open and beautiful!
Ocean access is via the San Antonio Del Mar housing development to the south. When the waters are calm it is sometimes possible to spot California Gray whales heading up or down the coast.
