SAN YSIDRO - TIJUANA BORDER CROSSING
There are a few secrets about crossing the border from the United States to Mexico and back. The Otay Mesa Border Crossing is one of them. It's not so much that you will need to pull this rabbit out of your hat when heading southbound into Mexico, but there are times when it can really help you headed northbound into the United States from Mexico.

LOCATION
The Otay Mesa border crossing is located six miles east of the San Ysidro border crossing. To get to this border crossing from Tijuana take the main road east and follow the signs to the Tijuana International Airport. The border crossing is about one mile east of the airport.
CLOSEST MEXICO DESTINATIONS
This border crossing is just east of downtown TIJUANA, and can also be used to visit ROSARITO BEACH, PUERTO NUEVO, BAJAMAR and ENSENADA.
USUAL WAIT TIMES - SOUTHBOUND
There is rarely a wait at this border crossing heading southbound...sometimes there might be a 5 minute wait. If you are transporting a large truck across this border crossing expect a wait of 30 minutes to 2 hours for Mexican Customs processing.
USUAL WAIT TIMES - NORTHTHBOUND
Even though many people do not know about this border crossing, many others do. The good news is that the wait here is usually less that the wait at the Tijuana / San Ysidro border, and the wait can sometimes can be as much as 30 minutes less.
HOURS OF OPERATION
The Otay Mesa Border Crossing had limited hours of operation when it first opened, but is now open 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
