Baja's Sea of Cortez hotels offer an experience true to the flavor of Baja that most visitors expect. Hot weather, stark and beautiful scenery, and a view of the spectacular Sea of Cortez from every turn!
This east coast of Baja rarely gets cold. From December through March it can cool off in the evenings, but days are warm or hot the rest of the year.
A trip to a Baja Sea of Cortez hotel usually involves a trip deep into the outback of Baja. While there are a few hotels in San Felipe that are within a 3 hour drive of the US / Mexico border, most of the hotels along the east side of Baja are well into Baja's wilderness and far from any large population centers.

SAN FELIPE HOTELS
For a town so famous for tourists, San Felipe is a bit short on high quality
accommodations. This is partially because most people visiting this part
of Baja are not looking for anything too fancy. Where the Cabo crowd demands
rooms with color TV and telephones in each room, most of the Felipe crowd
seems content just to have running water and a pillow. Still, for those
who must have a some luxury, San Felipe does offer a few nice hotels.

GONZAGA BAY HOTELS
Alphonsina's has been hosting the Baja wild and weary since 1961, and is the only civilized game in town, if you are looking for a decent roof over
your head. New rooms with beds offer nice accommodations right on the
beach. The six rooms just north of the restaurant were completed in 1996, and are actually pretty
nice. Each one features a private bathroom. Three of these face the ocean,
the other three face the airstrip and the inner bay. Ten new rooms on the south end of the restaurant were completed in 1998. The five downstairs rooms are huge, and the five upstairs rooms offer big balconies with beautiful views of the ocean, back bay, and mountains. What these rooms lack
in amenities, nature more than makes up for in spectacular views!

Mulege offers several hotels in the 'quaint' category, and not much above that. The mega-resorts found in Rosarito Beach and Cabo San Lucas have yet to claim a stake in this sleepy oasis town, and everyone seems just fine with that. There is definitely a shortage of hotels in the Bahia Concepcion area. Because the terrain is set up so well for camping and RVs hotels never really had a chance to gain a foothold in the area.
Want to rent an awesome house on the beach? Stop by the restaurant on the beach at Playa Buenaventura and ask for Olivia or Mark. This cool rental house is the perfect place to spend a day or a week or a month! Great rates!!!
Good hotels can be found 20 minutes north in Mulege, and one excellent hotel can be found on Playa Buenaventura.

The hotel situation in Loreto seems to be improving each year. There are a few medium sized hotels in town, and a few new larger hotels. Fear not, the ever present La Pinta Hotel chain also has their foot in the sand in Loreto, and a spectacular 5 star 128 room Camino Real resort is now completed and open south of town in Nopolo!
