CALEXICO EAST BORDER CROSSING
The Calexico East Border Crossing is rarely used by tourists heading into Baja. The real value of this gem is in avoiding the long lines that can take place at the main Mexicali-Calexico border crossing for northbound traffic. This crossing is located about 10 minutes east of the main Calexico crossing, but can save border bounders a half hour or more on busy days.

LOCATION
The Calexico East Border Crossing is located at the very south end of California Highway 111 in Calexico, and then six miles east.
CLOSEST MEXICO DESTINATIONS
The closest Mexico destination to this border crossing is MEXICALI, and this border crossing is commonly used to access Baja's Sea of Cortez destinations such as SAN FELIPE, PUERTECITOS, and GONZAGA BAY.
USUAL WAIT TIMES - SOUTHBOUND
There is usually no line at this border crossing for traffic heading south.
USUAL WAIT TIMES - NORTHTHBOUND
Most of the northbound traffic at this border crossing is spillage from the main Mexicali/Calexico border crossing six miles to the west. In other words, if there is a one hour line at the main border crossing, the line at Calexico East will build up accordingly, but still this wait will often be half of the main border crossing wait time.
HOURS OF OPERATION
This border crossing is open 7 days a week, from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
CARLOS FIESTA'S HOT TIP
If there is even the slightest chance that the main Mexicali/Calexico border crossing will be crowded, just head the extra 6 miles to this little secret. It will almost always be worth the effort.
